Excerpt: Last time we described four initiatives working as one pipeline. Here is what building it involves, what the first results look like, and where it goes next.
"Dream, dream, dream. Dreams transform into thoughts and thoughts result in action."
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
In our last post, we described four initiatives that work together as one pipeline, from first curiosity to public showcase. A pipeline is easy to draw on paper. This post looks at what building it actually involves, what we have seen so far, and what comes next.
Three things we are building
Everything the team does serves three aims.
Make ideas tangible. We create a first stage for ideas that are still becoming: a pitch, a prototype, or a question worth testing.
Build useful connections. Students meet founders, mentors and collaborators who make the next step less lonely and more practical.
Move toward action. Competitions, workshops and showcases turn campus energy into momentum that lasts beyond the event.
These aims answer the gap we described in our second post, and the misconceptions from our first. No stage of the pipeline asks for a technical background, capital, an original idea or a complete plan.
How it has unfolded, in order
Yukti '26: a first real audience. It came first, as an online event. On 5 September, fifteen teams pitched to a three-member jury drawn from academia, industry and incubation. Yukti was our campus round of the National Entrepreneurship Challenge by E-Cell IIT Bombay, organised with the Kanchi Shankara Research Foundation Technology Business Incubator.
Freshie Intro: a starting point. An introductory session for students who are new to entrepreneurship, with no prior experience expected. It followed Yukti and ran on the same day as APEX.
APEX: direction and momentum. A structured program that helps early-stage ideas take shape, held on the same day as Freshie Intro.
Illuminate: a framework for the idea. It comes last. On 13 October, a trainer from IIT Bombay leads a six-hour, hands-on session at SCSVMV covering the Business Model Canvas, finance basics, building a first version and pitching. Participants receive a certificate from E-Cell IIT Bombay. Registrations for this edition have closed.
Each event builds on the one before. Yukti gave ideas their first expert audience. Freshie Intro and APEX then followed together on a single day, welcoming newcomers and giving early ideas structure. Illuminate closes the sequence by giving an idea a business model to stand on.
What Yukti '26 showed us
Yukti was not only an SCSVMV event. The three podium teams came from three different colleges: Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai, SCSVMV, and Sri Sankara Arts and Science College in Kanchipuram.
Their ideas were just as varied: AI-based monitoring of blood loss during surgery, a hands-on skills-learning app, and a demand-driven platform that connects farmers directly to buyers. Healthcare, education and agriculture all reached the podium. That is the range we want this ecosystem to hold.
The team behind it
E-Cell SCSVMV is student-run. Our members handle outreach, design, operations, partnerships and technology, and the work is hands-on and collaborative. It is also, in the best way, always a little unfinished.
We also build in public. This blog goes out every Thursday, and every event, result and new post appears first on Instagram, LinkedIn and X at @ecell_scsvmv.
What comes next
A pipeline only matters if ideas move through it. Illuminate is our next step, and more events will follow. In our next post, we turn from what we are building to what you can build: how to test an idea before you spend time or money on it, through the story of a company that began with one frustrated customer.sounds
